Free Exams for Students and Youngsters

The MIT Radio Exam Team is pleased to announce that if you are under 18, or are a current high school or college student with school ID, we are now able to administer your amateur radio license exam at no cost to you!

In addition, our team is excited to be part of a pilot program being conducted by W5YI Licensing Services, which will pay the FCC application fee for any student or youngster who earns their license by taking their exam with us!

MIT Radio Exam Team now administering both in-person and fully-remote Ham Exams

The MIT Radio Exam Team offers in-person amateur radio license exams on the penultimate (second-to-last) Wednesday of all twelve months of the year. The sessions start at 7:30pm and are usually in Room 1-150 on MIT’s campus. Follow the link for your specific session in the box below for details on which room the exams will take place in, how to get there, and what to bring with you.

We also offer fully-remote amateur radio license exams on most other weeks. These sessions are held at varying times, according to the availability of our Volunteer Examiners, and are usually scheduled the week before they’re held. Please check the schedule in the box below; it is updated each week. Information about what it’s like to take a fully-remote ham exam with us can be found in our Remote Examinee Info Packet.

We occasionally hold other smaller sessions.
